At long last

At long last

A springtime poem

"

~

Tales comes a floating like kites in the sky,

colorful stories to view

Climbing in silence, a mid-season high,

greeting the vibrant and new

Butterflies flit in a pirouette form,

daffodil ballets, the show

Late season showers, a much-welcomed storm,

puddles reflect every glow

Ladybugs gather in polka dot dreams,

lounging the dew ‘pon the lawn

lily pad sonnets adrift on the streams,

ripples of joy travel on

Bumblebees hum in a harmonic tone,

nectar the fill of their smile

Vines made of ivy on walls made of stone,

clinging in emerald style

Meadowlarks sing of the promised parade,

choirs of buds on the trees

Buttercups bloom in the poems displayed,

reading aloud if you please

Warmer the mornings as afternoons shine,

bluebonnets gather the field

Scented, the breeze finding clothes on the line,

lilies, once hidden, revealed

Adieu old man winter, the winds of time change,

farewell your snow and your cold

Goodbye your clouds as our days rearrange,

verses of new chapters told

Gather your things as you walk down the path,

know that our thanks will be near

For we now find left in your aftermath,

springtime at long last, is here

I love this poem so much! It’s so descriptive and I love the hopeful feeling of a new season starting. I was so happy you included the line “vines made of ivy on walls made of stone,” that is one of the most beautiful sights to me. Beautiful poem.

Thank you so much.
I love the image of old man winter being shooed away with his frozen, cold belongings and the welcoming of the spring with all the beauty that it brings in its wake.

Meadowlarks sing of the promised parade,
choirs of buds on the trees

Such a lovely tribute to spring, my friend.

Awww. That's a sweet thought, my friend. Will do always!
If the bluebonnets are blooming, it must be springtime in Texas. As it is still rather chilly where I live, I could only read these lines with envy.

Thanks so much John. Yep, the bluebonnets/wildflowers are in full bloom down here. It is a beautiful.. read more
It has been like colour taking over from all the mass snow blindness we've been suffering from here, which has been simply stunning to see after the winter that lasted forever.
Even hearing songbirds and other wildlifes greetings makes the world a brighter place and takes a weight of burden from all those aching shoulders.
Long may it continue.
