HISTORY RECYCLED

HISTORY RECYCLED

A Poem by Willys Watson

HISTORY RECYCLED

Charlatans championed an
elitist economy

while

shysters shrouded in silk,
flaunting fraudulent fears
and manufactured myths,
told the right lies vote wise.

As

these immoral a******s,
denying deception,
drained the middle class dry
the deceived still believed

and

collective compassion,
an endangered species,
died at the gates of greed
where the corruption breeds.

Yes,

recognition requires
history’s harsh repeating
before the gullible
understand, if they can,

and

finally figure out
lessons learned should stay learned.

A great write much like my series Kings and Queens, I think you would like it.

I enjoyed the format you chose here and you used great imagery. Look forward to viewing more of your work.

It is the pure truth. Ignorance and greed merge into a cycle that never ends. Great poem.

Gee
Lessons learned seldom stay, these often fading as times get better.
Sometimes there are only two choices, both being bad, and it is a case of plumping for the lesser of the two( Clinton/ Trump)
Good morning double W, hope you are well.
