THE VULTURES OF THE METAPHOR

THE VULTURES OF THE METAPHOR

A Poem by Willys Watson

The Vultures Of The Metaphor

Within the realm of the Metaphor’s dimensions
the vultures that exist there are not bound by the

stringent rules of evolution

where they must wait for the demise of Earthly flesh
and their menus consist of unrepentant souls

divinely recognized for their inhumane crimes:
the war profiteers, the destroyers of nature,

the traffickers of human lives,

the conveyors of constant falsehoods, partnered with
the slaughter of millions for religion or greed.

While dessert is comprised of those who encourage
and enable and champion their leaders' vile deeds.

And never found on their menu

are resisters with social and moral conscience
who cherish Creation's original intent:

a struggle that has continued throughout the ages
while hoping enough of the masses will enlist

to aid saving our Earth, our home.

Pure greed, unstable egos and forced religion
still control the wealth, the weapons and the power,

and yet the resisters resist,

guided by the vision that some day the Vultures
of the Metaphor will starve from malnutrition.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this......
This is a masterpiece of great literary intent.
I am a naturalist as well, and also an idealist........but to be realistic..
I don't think that the vultures will ever starve.

They have too much of a following.....
This verse as it was originally published has been edited and a few new stanzas have been added.
