Bracing to Bloom

Bracing to Bloom

A Poem by DIVYA

Deep down under the snow
Cryptic in her own glow
Sealed in gossamer skin
Smouldered, a bud solo

There in her kernel's glare
A spark in her did flare
What made her wish to bloom?
Her nascent nub to bare?

What tincture in the breeze?
What burning in the freeze?
The promise of a storm?
Or just the buzz of bees?

Or was it a sunray?
Drifting from far away?
The epilogue of fall?
A new unfettered day?

Perhaps, the hues within
As audacious as sin
Did blind her with their glint
Her moulting to begin

And so it was her bliss
Her sanctum to dismiss
Greeting the waiting sun
With an effusive kiss

Bracing herself to trust
Each vicious, windy gust
Shaking her fervid core
Her petals strewn in dust

Yet now,  she lay there free
Fallen,  but full of glee
A victor in her quest
From her own self to flee

Iambic trimeter broken up into 8 quatrains, I love the flow of this piece I had to keep myself from forgetting to pause inbetween each stanza! My favorite being the one that begins "Or was it a Sunray, drifting from far away" that is such a good stanza the use of rhyme immaculate. There is not much this poem is wanting, for save something to dislike about it !

I love this write, Divya. There is an eloquence and gentleness in your words here as I read them. To bloom and reach our full potential or step outside of our shell takes courage that many cannot muster. Change is daunting but also necessary if we want to improve our circumstances. So to strive for the sunlight is what we must do. It's a lovely metaphor so well conveyed with your language and poetic techniques. Ty for sharing your fine words with us. 💛

This beautiful poem played out in slow motion for me DIVYA. I thought of the bulbs in my garden, currently winter resting. Piercing the cold surface to reach out for the sun's embrace. Life is like that too. It is there for living. Nothing ventured, nothing gained comes to mind. That can be difficult to put into practice at times. I appreciate very much the care put into this form piece of six syllables per line, four line stanzas and your choice of vocab. Love that word tincture.

This is a write of real quality, dear DIVYA! Eight stanzas of perfect AABA rhyme, all lines six syllables and laced with a tale with a personal moral message, to boot! It must have taken you a prolonged writing session to construct this one. That is very appreciated by this reader. It far outweighs some poems of brevity that read like they were written within a single minute. The effort really shows and shines in your lines. The bud of a long dormant flower finds the strength to reach for the sunlight, bracing against all the wind can throw at her, only to find her petals torn asunder yet free within and victorious in her quest to break through her dormant state. It's a fine metaphor that gives us an inkling about the poet behind the words. You transfixed me from beginning to end and this is a poem to cherish. So well done, madame. Congratulations on a fine poetic contribution.⚘

Do we have the guts to really live...to go for the sun, metaphorically?
We may achieve, then burn out...but at least we strived to do something.
I read in some poem..."we have to die to live"
maybe so...but we have to bloom before we can die...and become eternally free.
like this piece, DIVYA,
