Genuine

Genuine

A Poem by ❀ Gabriela ❀
"

Some musings on friendship.

"
I'd rather sit here all alone
And face these hard things on my own

Then have to deal with hateful friends
Who spew out lies to meet their ends

Who sow discord and then, worse yet,
Enjoy the trouble that they get

Who only look to see me fall
I'd rather not have friends at all.

I'd rather stand with my own feet
And find I'm not so incomplete

For, if a friend's not genuine,
They're simply not a friend of mine.

Hello, Gabriela! :)
This is lovely poetry with a thoughtful relatable message. Tetrameter is my default, so finding this tonight was special. Thanks for sharing.

My pleasure :)
The rhyme scheme in this poem is simple but well executed. You use language that is descriptive yet easy to understand, which ensures that your message reaches a larger audience.

An excellent write on a subject far too many take lightly. A friend should add positive attributes to your life. If they subtract from your life, they are called enemies.
