Falling Into The Rabbit Hole

Falling Into The Rabbit Hole

A Poem by Starr
"

Alice in the Wonderland... Can I Join You? I want my own peace... my own insane asylum...

"
I was down
Never up
I was falling
Like Alice into Wonderland
The White Rabbit is running late
I'm running out of time
Cheshire the Cat is always smiling mischievously
And I am always frowning, sorrowfully
The Queen of Hearts is scowling at everyone
And I am looking down on the world
Absolem the Caterpillar wants to give advice
But I refuse like a vice is holding me
The Mad Hatter is crazy
I am insane
I'm slowly falling into my own insane asylum

Never going up
Always going down
Never seeing light
Only the sight
Of darkness
Coating my room
Dark corners
No one in sight
Gripping me like a vice
Refusing to let me go
Refusing to see me through
I am stuck
I can't breath
I'm falling
Down
Down
Down
Into the rabbit hole

I adored the structure of this, the color variations, receding and ascending lettering, making this piece entirely eye popping and hard hitting in certain places. There was something about this that felt as if it had held it's breath the entire time and finally released it with the last line. Like one mighty exhale beyond the page... Am a massive fan of anything Alice in Wonderland, so I thoroughly enjoyed the character mentions, the imagery used, feeling as if I was spinning further and further down the rabbit hole word by word. Caught up in a sense of being horror-stricken, as if desperately clawing into the earth to keep from falling, and yet, still slipping away. Wonderfully done, Starr! Made my heart race!

this is great work, I'm not a big fan of Alice in Wonderland but the comparison you made here is very very fascinating. Keep it up.

Thanks so much! I really am glad you like (love) it! I will always keep writing!!
That was a fun read lol. Despite the fact, it's about always falling, though I suppose, to keep falling you must have gotten back up, which would make this an encouraging read! Tyfs!

Personally I've never cared for Alice in Wonderland, but I would say that this fits my estimate of what going through a panic or anxiety attack is like, and if you just ignore me calling your writing a panic attack, then there's a genuine compliment in here somewhere!

Not bad at all!

It sounds like what I have been going through, now I've got something to light up the shadows and chase them away.
