"Hawai'i Kupuna Hula Festival Time"

It's Kupuna Hula time again
When we show our stuff
We are Hawaii's Kupuna's
For some, it's kind of tough

Kupuna means seniors
In Hawaiian you know
It's time to dance hula
 With a Festival show

 When the music plays
  Pounding sounds of the drums
All hurts and pains are gone
As the sweet ukulele strums

We gather all together
Travel from the worldwide
Meet with friends and "Ohana"
Dance with lovely hula pride

We practice for months
 Kumu Hannah shows the moves
All our anxiety and fears
She patiently removes

We have new dresses
Sew'n with care and love
Designed with memories
Ancestors would be proud of

To express our Island beaut
We search for the right flowers
Often in the hot sunshine
Other times during misty showers

We are judged on who's the best
Win prizes and fame
But we are all winner's
Because history we did reclaim

About Hawai'i Kupuna Hula Festival

Jeremiah 31:13
Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old together;
for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them,
and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
