The world we live in

The world we live in

A Poem by

We live in a world of hate

A world of revenge fueled murders

Of rape, torture, pain and violence.

We live in a world of pollution

A world of torn down forests

Polluted waters, and spoiled earth.

We live in a world of corruption

There is nothing left sacred

This world of ours is not ideal

We contaminate, taint, abuse and kill

There is no love here

When did it all go wrong?

Where did this injustice begin?

On whom can we lay the blame?

There is one thing we can all do

Swing that judgemental pendulum back on ourselves.

We are the ones to be blamed

As the hour glass of time

Slowly counts out our lives

We have to initiate change.

Do you realise what you’re leaving behind?

Where will our children play,

Once we have destroyed the forests?

Where will the shelter,

When violence rules supreme?

Who will keep their innocence,

When the world is filled with corruption?

What are we leaving behind?

I'd say a great big bloody mess that someone else has to deal with.

Loved this. Really straight to the point-sometimes this subject can waffle on and be self righteous. But you did a great job. It could easily have gone on and on, stuff about killing animals, but you kept it about our kids. I like that. Makes it different from all the others.

Good work!

Call me a pessimist but I do believe that our self-destructive behaviors are purely an instinctual desire to provide for our children and selves, therefor selfish compared to the needs of the masses but overall essential for the continuation of the species, without such we may have been made extinct thousands of years ago. Either way, the earth will survive, but our happy-go-lucky ball of a time that were experiencing now will be over soon, and everything will go back to the way the planet was when it was young; a giant pebble spewing chaos and lava. Oops, went off on a rant! See it's proof of your inspiring use of pathos and logos! :D Wonderful write!!

A powerful piece. It is indeed a bad world and life is hell.

I really liked this. You're a very thought provoking person. I do believe we live in a place filled with bad things but we also have lots of good. The negative stuff is easier to notice. But still, loved this poem

Your thoughts mirror my own. I want the next generation; young folks like you, to have what I had. Mankind, in all his supposed inteligence, saws off the very limb he sits upon. I can't figure it out.

The world is both beautiful and ugly. No matter what words you choose to describe it, it will still be the same. Your questions are simple, yet they are so powerful because we do not think about them daily - until we are affected. Thank you for bringing all this to the forefront for us! Every little bit counts.

This asks some good questions. This is a sick world. Nice job writing abuout it. The only thing I might mess with is to use a synonym for words such as rape, pollution, corruption, etc after using them the first time. Just like pillaging, defiled, immorality.

Don`t you read the poems in Cafe ?
Almost every written word is about love.
Love this, love that , love my hat.
Seriously ! People have left Cafe because
of the large percentage of mushy love stuff
being written.
The one thing I hate more than love stuff is
hate stuff.
You probably write well, just can the hate.
