Bittersweet Memories

Bittersweet Memories

A Poem by

A streaked, damp pillow

Shows the tears that have been cried.

My red rimmed eyes,

A reminder of when a part of me died.

Bittersweet memories,

Of the times that passed us by.

Bittersweet memories,

All the time asking why.

The world is spinning,

As shown by the days that come and go.

It all comes to nothing,

Just feeling like my heart’s covered in snow.

Bittersweet memories,

Sadly are now the only thing I can keep.

Bittersweet memories,

Proof to me that you were not worth the leap.

As I watch the candle slowly dim

I am faced with the horrors you have left me with

No safe haven around me, to run to

You left me no options but to move on and live

Bittersweet memories,

The ghost of you still plagues my mind

Bittersweet memories,

Our memories play over and over this time
