lest we forget

lest we forget

A Poem by

The day the sun doesn't rise

The day the stars don't set

The people will be at their windows

remembering "lest we forget".

Some will hold their bibles

And others will hold hands

It's been five hours since delay

More and more people stand outside

as if waiting to be taken by the sky

that is stuck just before twilight.

Calamity has not struck yet

Perhaps that's been delayed too

But just before chaos breaks out

The sun rises

The stars set

And it is all a dream "lest we forget"
