~ The Voice of Silence

When you stood there upon the stream

Your eyes, so pointed at me,

I tried, but couldn’t reach you

Just too much water in between

Then you tried to scream at me

Lips moving like a slow motions act

Your hands around your mouth,

The only thing I heard were just whispers

You were there, silently loud

The only thing that I could do,

Was waving with my hands

To make you move along your way,

To let you run away from me,

With me you couldn’t stay

But on the end of the river

I found your body there, and all alone

Not knowing, I moved myself with you

I must have jumped into the river,

But alas, I was too late, you were gone…

So I cried in silence,

And moved along my road,

Still hearing those whispers

Those silent whispers,

And near me a heartbeat of yours

The silent whispers of death do come to us well before our time is up. They remind us to cherish every day and to live each day as if it was the last. After hearing those whispers, a person is changed forever. This explains why your poetry is so deeply moving, sweet friend. May you be able to write it for many years. Knuffels, Lydi**

It can be so frustrating with that quiet and space between you and another. That silence can speak volumes. The imagery in this is great, Eli. The screaming through the hands and the way it is responded to with silent tears is moving. As if there is an understand deeper than words. It is hard to want so much to want to tell someone just how you feel but not feel heard...or not feel like you can hear them. But it is in the knowing that is important and the knowing is sometimes left unsaid.

A truly great piece of work here, sis. Very easy to connect with.

I'm intrigued by your use of language here. I kind of felt as if the narrator was trying to speak through the veil of death at the end… Thank you for posting :)

Yes.... at the end.... you have feelers.... :) *smiling*
you ended the piece with a blood pumping plunge. danger is this kind of fail safe dead fed nature you never prepare for.. and hands well that's just another bridle bridge to the stallion on it's wild journey, bucking off the live style we ride bare into a soother's horizontal clocked arms...great piece

Thank you for your beautiful and keen insights... my friend
Reading this I think of dreaming of a loved one whom is deceased only to wake up before you get the chance to talk to them again. Beautiful work.
