~ Kalimera Hellenika

Black strong morning coffee

A breakfast with chips,

And black olives,

With tomatoes and feta cheese;

Cucumber and olive oil,

Your breath of air, and gasoline,

The salt of the wild sea,

The odor of those fresh leaves,

And of the plenty pineapple trees;

Your heart inside of mine,

Your thoughts, philosophizing and fine,

We smell the love of being,

We taste this true life fleeting;

We are some of the special mix

Just dance with me your sunny mix,

The Sirtaki, we did… once, do all,

Just one more time on my twenty two of June,

My Birthday on that afternoon...

Oh blow me one more Metaxa…

Or one more Ouzo,

And give me your blue lagoon…

Jamas Hellenika…

Until next year soon...

The thing that stuck out most to me in this piece was the uplifting vibe...I felt the wing flowing beneath my wings as I read this, and I imagined that I could soar straight up out of this world and toward something more exotic, more beautiful.

Well put together, especially in terms of your wording and phrasing, which are in your own unique style, but still so enchanting. I like the references to different cultures...an inffusion of sorts, a brilliant mixture that makes something better than the sum of its parts.

Nicely done...truly enjoyed this one!

You have touched on the senses here....I could taste the tomato and feta, smell the salt air mingling with gasoline, feel the love. What stunning imagery you employ in every line of this deeply romantic write. Such freedom in the dance of love in this poem. Elisa, this was a joy to read. Knuffels, Lydi**

I love Greece, and love how you expressed so free about travel in that amazing neighbor country! SO warming piece, full of air of Greece, with little signs and moments of pleasure and life in the land of olives! All that makes me think about traveling there...I like how much your poems are not a separate impression in itself, but shared with your beloved and others, which makes the view so attractive and special! a great piece!
