For you, I would dance infinitely,

Along the sparkling canals

Of Amsterdam,

In the depths of the night,

Where I live, and see;

And feel the passion of my death,

Slowly creep in, at every pass I make…

I want to touch your ivory beauty,

Almost taste, the passion of your strings;

Where you and me collide in fire…

Your dark shine, your hair;

And the reflection of the morning glory

Your teeth as white as our kiss;

All this makes our music more intense,

We are love and the invisible…

Evaporated air whirls through my fingers,

And I finally breathe out, my last breath...

It was you, for who I shone, and

                It was you I played…

I just floated through the whole read... on a cloud... in a dream.
Really effortless... stunning metaphors. At one with the instrument.
Its like the fingers are the hammers. Love or the piano.... yes to both.
To the pen, most certainly.

Beautiful writing Elisa-

This seems effortless as others has written. I agree. Flows until the end.

You have me stunned this morning - utterly incredible words, and so beautifully rendered, Elisa! I've already read this particular poem several times, and there is so much to say, but it's difficult to find the right words.

"For you, I would dance infinitely/Along the sparkling canals/Of Amsterdam," just this short verse created so many images in my head. The love for music, and for an instrument, in a sense, is a very much like a love affair between human beings, is it not?

I can understand because I've felt the same love for my saxophone (as naughty as that may sound). There's almost a spiritual connection there sometimes, especially with someone for whom music comes naturally.

I must admit that I didn't realize it was about music at first, but as I always say, that's part of the fun of poetry. Each reader will interpret the poem differently, and even the author might see different things in it after she reads it again.

Oh, no worries. I've been feeling a bit "off" the past few days. Perhaps it's the tornados?

You stay safe, in your area.... in this Tornado season. ;)

Thank you, I am (as much as possible)!
In my opinion it sounds like a description of a person that is inspired to keep playing a musical instrument motivated while contemplating a beautiful person.

And that's a gorgeous interpretation Raven Sis.... I knew I could count on your magic.... :)
Lots of wonderful imagery. I can feel it. Feels like the anti-piece of something I wrote years ago called "Blood in the Key of a Jealous C".

Beautiful and serene. You create magic with the words.

"I want to touch your ivory beauty,
Almost taste, the passion of your strings;
Where you and me collide in fire…"
