~ Back to my Continent

Sigh, it is good to be back, on earthy ground,

To taste a fine red wine, and read the Newspaper

     I was far away, and missed my music;

     The roads, and the chaotic streets,

I think I might have missed, a decennia,

Of not being wrapped up, within the love of Europe,

     But more in the weightlessness of love,

     Where one can forget herself, to the wholeness

Of another, and the art of slipping away,

By doors, as gateways, to a new year each time

      I wonder, and have wondered for so long,

      How the taste felt on my tongue again, of this

Fresh made coffee, and the croissant from the oven

He just made for me this morning…

Thank you very much :) greetings from Europe...
Just vivid. Nothing academic I can or would want to say about this. Vital, you drench the reader with a sense of you. 'your music', 'wrapped up within the love of Europe', 'the art of slipping away'. That last line fascinates me. Do you slip away through loving another, do the doors trick you into thinking that the time stands still? These places are indistinguishable, ten, fifteen years later, when we return and are ourselves, unrecognizable. Love it

There's no place like home. No matter how wonderful the places we visit, no matter how picturesque, the feel of sitting in your own kitchen and the taste of drinking your own freshly made coffee out of your own special cup can not be compared to anything else. Lovely, Elisa. lydi**

Being away from home can be an adventure and a harsh pain at the same time. I do love this write and especially the last few lines;
''Fresh made coffee, and the croissant from the oven

Makes me feel like some nice hot coffee and a croissant :)

No matter where it is - there is no place like home. A beautiful description of the warm security of a familiar place. I could taste the coffee Elisa. A beautiful, beautiful poem.

There is an old saying in gaelic, ''nil aon tin tan rud a thin tan fein'', it means there is no fireside like your own fireside, I think I get what you mean, it's lovely to travel but it's hard to beat the feeling of being back in your own place.
