Daughter Winter

Daughter Winter

A Poem by
"

To the dad of a friend

Daughter Winter

Like mother like daughter, or so they say,

If I am like her, why do I beg you to stay?

Why is it you have to beg me to be mean,

If I am the daughter of the winter queen?

She laughs at your pain, and bathes in your sorrow,

But, I am here to save you from tomorrow.

You want her, but she wants another,

Dad, how do you compare me to that horrible mother?

As you sulk in your corner, she basks in your pain,

And everyday I save you, with my healing rain.

I am your shelter, the bright sun to your flower,

So why is it dad that I make you cower?

You fear me, but you worship my mother

Sometimes I wish I was born to another.

A family who would love me and care,

But you are the father who wouldn’t dare.
