~ The Voice of Silence

When you stood there upon the stream

Your eyes, so pointed at me,

I tried, but couldn’t reach you

Just too much water in between

Then you tried to scream at me

Lips moving like a slow motions act

Your hands around your mouth,

The only thing I heard were just whispers

You were there, silently loud

The only thing that I could do,

Was waving with my hands

To make you move along your way,

To let you run away from me,

With me you couldn’t stay

But on the end of the river

I found your body there, and all alone

Not knowing, I moved myself with you

I must have jumped into the river,

But alas, I was too late, you were gone…

So I cried in silence,

And moved along my road,

Still hearing those whispers

Those silent whispers,

And near me a heartbeat of yours

The silent whispers of death do come to us well before our time is up. They remind us to cherish every day and to live each day as if it was the last. After hearing those whispers, a person is changed forever. This explains why your poetry is so deeply moving, sweet friend. May you be able to write it for many years. Knuffels, Lydi**

Eli, this is such a brilliant poem of silence, well penned tale that took me along a dark journey. This vision is so heartfelt, truly heartbreaking.

"So I cried in silence,
And moved along my road,
Still hearing those whispers
Those silent whispers,
And near me a heartbeat of yours"

Very powerful words.

The courage and strength it took to share such a personal piece is very admirable. So much more than just words….you captured the true essence of life, death…and love.

Rushing River = running away I think. It can't go backward unless some traumatic force happens.

Hey you! Well, I have been away from here, not written so much, and then the first thing I see (almost) is your poem. Thank you for the words, the feelings, the devil inside you, and the wonderful way in which you have taken me on this dark and frightening journey. I will be back to read more of you, I am sure. Please take care -

I am a songwriter so I couldn't help singing your poem to the tune of Paul Simon's song Sounds of Silence. It fits really well to in that tune!

This is a wonderful and heartbreaking poem. This is amazingly written :) Good job! I couldn't imagine losing the one I love forever. Never being able to speak any more words, never able to kiss again...with a gust of wind, the fire disappears.

heartbreaking ending.... i felt the sad longing aura... the stillness of the waters barrier... a surreal dream of the loud silence... silently watching the person drifts out leaving.... you keep on thinking, thinking but nothing on which is best to do until its too late... a very vivid neardeath experienced..
