A Poem by WryFighter
"

About losing a relationship you've cared for for as long as you can remember.

"
I built this house,
Brick by brick,
As a hope for my wife,
And a home for my kids.

It's stood here through
Storms, floods, and fires.
It's become a symbol,
For the whole town to admire.

But one fateful day,
Something came to test,
Whether the best house in town,
Is really the best.

And it threw at my home,
Everything it could.
Slowly ripping away the walls,
Faster than anything would.

Until all that stood,
Was just me and the frame.
And with one sigh of relief,
Down my house came.

It's a wonderful poem with great rhythm and rhyme.
The theme is also good.

I would see this poem more like a narrative poem and not really an emotional confession.

I suppose one would automatically assume, through the poem and the choice of words, that this house was a symbol of hard work and effort.
The fall of this house - normally people would be disappointed. "one fateful day" shows that you seem sad and disappointed.
And yet "one sigh of relief" seems like you are relieved??

You can choose to write another stanza to show the emotions you feel after the house fell.

Great poem, though =D
