The Path Leading To A Heart No Longer There

The Path Leading To A Heart No Longer There

A Poem by Ameli
"

Long title is long...but sadly very true

"

There's a path that winds

In deep, confusing swirls.

It's the path leading to my heart,

Heavily secured.

I've set it up to protect myself

From all too familiar pain.

Many get lost instantly

On the first curves and bends.

But that's only the first stage,

The challenge gets tougher still.

How many obstacles can you break,

Will you make it through?

Good luck, you'll need plenty of it

If you really want to earn my trust.

Walls of the strongest metals,

of flames that blaze white-hot,

Chains that wrap defensively,

Locks of every kind.

Just some of the things I've set up,

Things that let me hide.

But the greatest twist in all of this,

The best protection of them all,

Is that there is no heart at the end,

It's hidden deeply within.

In its place is nothing more

Than a heart that's made of stone.

Author's Note

Ameli
Well this is quite the long one now isn't it?
Long title to match a long poem.
All this stuff tends to be about me...I suppose every poet needs their angsty side~
