From One Monster To Another

From One Monster To Another

A Poem by Xuru

It is shine and elegance I lack as I peel back my fingernails and share with you my filth.

I spin tales for the depraved and nasty. Their crooked smiles sharp with wit and venom.

I bruise my knuckles for the lost boys left to wander, breaking my chains in haste so that I may join their pack.

I sing love songs to the wives who lie untouched while I count their breaths from beneath their beds.

So raise a glass and splash the rye to commemorate this monstrosity brewing.

Daring, original, and colorful!

I felt a thrill reading it..way to go!

I love this. A sense of dirtiness, evil, and lust but the single word "elegance" makes it amazingly beautiful to me.

Aren't we all at least a lil bit Andrew?
Wow, its like an interview with a demon, the storm has quietened and they calmly express a little bit but you can still feel the inner devil leaking through the words. Enjoyed it

Thanks Owen.
I get the overall feel of an erstwhile good being saying - "F*ck it!" and becoming a bad boy. Giving in to the baser instincts.

I learned a new word - drabble - which is my new favourite word. Your drabbled tags have impressed me.
Cool.

Drabble...
Enjoyed your poem very much. Great imagery, dash of evil dwelling. Nice easy flow, good read. Liked the line:" I sing love songs to the wives who lie untouched while I count their breathes from beneath their beds". I will trade you a "Big Ben" football jersey in black and gold for that line.

You are welcome my friend.
This poem has a dark tone to it, and it shows a side of humanity we try to cover. But you speak the truth: we all have a little monster inside of us.
