A Poem by XxWhatsername86

I’m being suffocated
Closed in
Locked in a cage
Key thrown to the wind

Those who “care”
Hold me tightest
Pushing me to conform
Only wanting the “best”

I wrestle with the world
Trying to get away
Fighting for free air
Pushing out of the fray

I’m finally free!
Free to be me
No walls closing in
I’m giddy with glee!

But soon I calm down
And take a look around
It’s a wasteland here
Not even a sound

A look at my small cage
It looks almost cozy
Full of people who care
At least not so lonely

But I can’t go back
I left them broken
Burned my bridges
With words unspoken

I’m alone in my freedom
Truly shunned
A dessert full of dust
Is this what I won?
