Dressed to Kill

Dressed to Kill

A Poem by Lady_B

All dolled up with nowhere to go
A smile to melt any heart
And a heart of frozen glass
Betrayed by a lover
Who was ensnared by another
All dolled up and somewhere to be
An outfit to make jaws drop
An appointment to keep
And dressed to kill
A knife in a boot
My heart on my sleeve
And a crushing pain I’m gonna make you feel
You walk up and act so cool
But I act first
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
A knife in your heart
And your blood on my hands
So how does it feel?
Dying for love?

Nice poem .
I like the lines :
a heart of frozen glass...

Love the way this poem simply drips cold, like the silent pain of a drip, like the cold from the underside of a pillow. The two questions at the end I envision said with a smile neither here or there. Nicely done.

Preemptive strikes are dangerous and risky, but in situations like this, where it's hit or be hit, hitting tends to make it hurt less than being hit. Good poem.

I'm not really much of an author at this point.. I've got one short story, a parody of Sleeping Beauty which I wrote for my english class, and a couple of poems.. I'm a teenager living in rural Ontar.. more..
