Once in the Forest of Creepy

Once in the Forest of Creepy

A Poem by Yuvia Chairez

once upon a bedtime story....

I don't know at what point
It became okay for the Big Bad Wolf
To become friends with the hunter
Or when it was okay for Cinderella
To have an affair with the Prince far, far away.
Maybe it's my old age, which makes me unelegible
To become a Disney Princess
Or that I stopped believing in that happy ever after...
Or maybe it's because I finally saw
That the real evil in this world
Is not Malificent or the Wicked Witch...
It's the guy nextdoor who doesn't understand
Why it's not okay to own an AK47
Or why the silenced voices around the world
Are probably the loudest screams
Anyone will ever hear.
