With Love, Your Daughter

With Love, Your Daughter

A Poem by D.Andy

Words don't mean s**t
Empty words
Empty promises
Promises to be present
Promises to protect
Promises to provide
All goes to s**t
All went to s**t a long time ago

Calls don't mean s**t
Empty words
Empty promises
Promises to love
Promises to listen
Promises to lead
All goes to s**t
All went to s**t a long time ago

I don't mean s**t--not to you
empty heart
empty home
and an empty child with words that don't mean s**t

This is a sucker punch. The contrast between the title and the poem itself speaks volumes, and I can feel the anger and despair in every line. This captures a very specific parent-child relationship that I think many can relate to. Powerfully written.
