Trapped

Trapped

A Poem by Zaila
"

Ever grow tired of biting your tongue? Well I do. Trapped in my own standards to keep myself from lashing back and those to hurt me with their passive-aggressive remarks!

"
Silently I endure
With a smile I withstand
The comments they give
The hateful remarks

I do not understand
How they claim to love me
But say things that cut
Deep into my soul

Am I to ignore this?
Am I to just absorb?
Perhaps let those words
Bounce right off my heart

Words they say build walls
Powerful brick fences
Monstrous, tall and thick
Far too strong to break

Trapped within their remarks
Unable to strike back
My reserve growing
Weaker by the second.
