UTANDO (English Version: LOVE)A Poem by Zamantungwa Da PoetessTranslation of the Xhosa version.
He loves me,
Of the women in the world he has chosen me, He said it, yes, I shall be the mother to his kids The reason he is called a respectable man Because he confessed that When I'm by his side He is given the courage to be the best he can ever be All this he said with his hand holding mine Looking me straight in the eye Sending chills down my spine Yes, he loves me I love him Through him I'm gonna witness The glory of motherhood His smile utters to my heart in silence that everything will be okay when I'm falling apart, When he is with me My world is complete Looking at his eyes I feel my throat dry up in yearning For his love to meet mine Yes, I love him We love each other He is mine And I am his Our hearts beat in unison Boldly he calls me "My Love" Sweetly I reply "My Darling" When the time comes and our lips greet each other The wetness of the kiss tingles in my bosom Fulfilling a long overdue desire in us Which without each other could never be satisfied His hand around my waist My head on his chest As we stroll as one down the road Feels like home because Yes, we love each other.
