Stone Heart

Stone Heart

A Poem by Zarok

The statue of a beautiful damsel
In the courtyard of the council
See all of people the wander by
Sees them happy and thinks why can't I
From her stone lips and her stone heart
All she wants is to be in love
She sees couples happy and loving
Yet she knows that she'll feel nothing
She sees them there always together
In her stone heart she doesn't want to be forever
Only to feel something that is real
The wounds of loneliness will not heal
To feel love to feel to be with someone
While surrounded by people every day
She is alone in her heart she'll stay
And be here always watching and waiting
For a time when she'll be loved
On her stone cheeks a tear appears
She'll be alone always she fears
Yet not real she does weep alone
All this pain is all she's ever known
And so she wants this all to end
She wanted to be real so she weeps again

this has interesting dimension to it.

I see it as either a woman who has a "stone heart" maybe b/c she's gaurded it for so long she wants love but won't let anyone in or she just can't break the barrier to her heart

-OR-

maybe this is in the perspective of a woman literally made of stone. a statue personification.

Interesting.. i enjoyed this.
