Dream within Dream

Dream within Dream

A Poem by Md. Ziaul Haque

Yesterday I had a reverie,

You and I walking along the endless shore,

With the white birds being our compass, for sure,

And the heavenly air touching you gently.

The fragrance of yours making the sea-ripples jealous,

The colour of sky has gone red like my heart,

With the sun and moon gifting us with a stunning kart,

In which we traverse, you sitting beside ‘my Venus’.

I live through timelessness and then… a sudden shake,

I sense a spinning world, I awake!

Good poem. The rhyme seems a bit rigid at time, but the imagery certainly reflects the dream like state (especially the bits relating the cosmology). Remember that poems don't have to rhyme - in this case (especially 'for sure' some of the rhythm is lost because of it. If that was intentional, fair enough, but to me dreams have a nice rhythm. Nightmares would have a disrupted one.
