"Holden On"

"Holden On"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

"Holden On"

I got here like a lost follower:

Confused, depressed, and flashing back into the past.

Good times have disappeared across the street from me.

The only place where times stands still is not:

My room,

My apartment,

My school,

Nor my insides.

Sands stopped here in this place of history.

Wax figures never melt here,

Models never collapse here.

Everything is held in a case of glass, preserved, just for the future.

Every memory of the world of what used to be full of innocence,

Of blissful ignorance is raised up high,

And it is put up in the most truthful way.

Change is the most phony process ever created by mankind:

With change comes destruction;

With tradition comes innocence...
