"Death Is My Drug"

"Death Is My Drug"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

"Death Is My Drug"

I inhale pollutants of memories and bad dreams. I drink my metallic-tasting tears. I ingest a pill of acidic strife. But you… You are my breath of fresh air, Picking me up as far as you can try. Even though I’m just floating up there, You attempt to keep me, From falling back down deep, Deep in that darkness, That “Darkness of Despair”. Sometimes I sneak a puff, a swig, or a quick pop, When you’ve let your guard down. I will admit, You have caught me red-handed. Thing is, how many times is it going to take, To make me stop, Or for me to not be able to do it again? Now, because of your “rebelliousness”. You want to try a little curiosity… Well, I don’t know how I’m going to deal with that. Everyone that I know who has, Ended up being completely dead to me… So, please, don’t…
