Ode to Today

Ode to Today

A Poem by Zoe Jay

Motivational speakers: Tuesday at 3.
Earthquake kills thousands.
But don’t worry: it’s in China.
Girl, 16, set alight by boyfriend.
Ghetto miseducation breeds talent?
Millions spent and nothing achieved.
World leaders meet in Copenhagen.
Again.

And reinventing the playground…

Victoria’s Secret’s show. Sunday. Italy.
Don’t miss it! Or you die.
Troops in Afghanistan.
They  don’t understand the reasons why.
New buildings in Vegas.
Old buildings in stone.
Thank God we got the crack off the streets.
Recession depression.

Does anyone need to buy a games console?

A brilliant maniac switching of channels that blends in the headlines perfectly and still manages to tell a kick in the balls style story.
The game console would almost bring the humor if the damn thing wasn't riddled with more bad headlines than good.

God damn brilliance.
Great short shot

I'm devouring your work and what comes to mind is you are one of the few who actually see the world instead of merely existing in it. Also your writing is crisp and refreshing with a touch of cynicism that makes what I've read so far fantastic.Keep writing and I'll keep reading. :)

wow!!!!!! i think this is a brilliant capture of what "today" means nowadays...the superficiality of some things, the ignored importance of others, everything happening with the speed of light and breaking faster and faster the bonds with the past because of the bridges to the future...beautifully done!! 100/100
