Ode to LoveA Poem by Zoe JaySo,
have I learned what love is? I
have suffered for it, Borne
more than I thought I could bear Made
a thousand promises for it Lived
for it and in it and with it And
a part of me has died for it Have
I learned what love is yet? It
has stamped on me, Ripped
out my living heart and s**t on it Taken
away all of who I once was Twisted
up my heart and my head And
made me different deep inside When
will I learn what love is? I
have believed in it, Stood
by it in the face of every storm Comforted
myself in its warmth Justified
it every turn of the way And
glimpsed its beauty and joy Did
I want to learn what love is? It’s
everyone’s dream, To
find out what true love really means But
that nice dream is a deceit Love
comes to us as we find it And
sometimes it comes raw What
have I learned from love? It
has opened my soul, It
has taught me to rejoice in compromise Made
me more than I was before I
know the joy of giving myself And
losing nothing when I give So,
what do I know about love? That
it is enough, Enough
to love him and be loved by him And
that I will give myself to him With
and for and because of love And
without a regret nor a doubt J © 2013 Zoe JayReviews
