The Pawn Song

The Pawn Song

A Poem by ASandyRabbit

Planned out decades in advance
Every possibility accounted for
That’s how they play the game, you know

Chess is a game of pawns, they say
So with good intentions they start
The pawns’ personality lost

Art for sake of a portfolio
Music to win a contest
Expression is tailored to talent

It’s not my life, so I’m not to say
But are the Ivys really worth it?
I suppose that’s better than home.
