Fallen Idols

Fallen Idols

A Poem by Zorrin86

So now you say that only the fallen idols can steal your pain
Like a scapegoat, or a conduit of loss?
What other words could move your soul
When marble statues spit venom in your ears?
Forsaken though we all are in the end
Still you wave your banner of redemption proudly,
Shouting with a voice elated
That your fallen idols will triumph just the same,
Haughty while your message lingers
Cold and lonesome in the dark,
Desperately it curls your fingers
Pointing out the infidels,
Wage your war if it makes you happy
But crucify me on another day,
The sun is shining with rays like daggers
Piercing, touching, everything.
