Periods of Time

A poem about letting go and waiting.

Time will undeniably tell,

as we pledged to wonder the world separately

seeking healing for ourselves,

longing for the warmth of the other's presence.

 

Time will lead the course

and the universe will eventually converge our souls.

Interweaving diverse and ethereal emotions,

chained in the closet for generations.

 

For the time being,

I will yearn the feeling of your existence,

lost in a trance on the future's promises

whilst carving the path to my aspirations.

 

Time will inevitably come,

where we'll meet while carrying tales of our journeys,

and I will faithfully wait for you

at the place that only the both of us knew.

 

And when that time transpires,

prithee, embrace me with your comfort.

Let me hear the stories of conflicts,

the mighty battles you singlehandedly conquered.

 

My love, it would certainly feel

like I have been imprisoned for eons.

Waiting for your return

in anguish and daydreams.

 

But do know that your anecdotes

will eternally be stowed in my safe keeping.

And I will be all ears with exuberance,

for listening to you will be my utmost deliverance.

 

When the time is right,

I will pour to you the love that have been cared of

in the garden of memoirs

that once was ours.

 

Then our clock will begin to tick softly,

our time will at long last resume to surge,

ultimately creating new memories

of our treasured what-we-could've-been.
