Miss Mildred

A poem I wrote for class. There's a little bit of hypocrisy in us all... Some adult language.

Miss Mildred

 

Miss Mildred is a stitch,

a stumbling, bumbling b***h.

Some say she’s a witch

who eats one child each day.

 

Her style of dress is smart.

Her hair is spiral art.

She humbly plays her part

in the high school PTA.

 

This Friday night’s a treat:

all the Girls will meet

in Mildred’s grandest suite

to have a fine soiree.

 

“Not for celebration,”

she says, “for education,

and thoughtful lamentation

for our society.”

 

These nights they find the time

to sit around and whine

with cups of sparkling wine

in front of Mildred’s new TV.

 

“Our children ought not do

what movies tell them to.”

She asks, “What can we do

to uphold integrity?

 

“Movies of all tastes,”

she says, “are utter waste,”

yet each one sits and bastes

and watches hungrily.

Satire is one of my favorite forms and you have it in abundance my friend. The photo is a classic, spiral art indeed...please don't change a word?

Really like this! Reminds me in a way of that song - can't remember the name but it was something about the PTA and this woman who turned up and told all the stuffy trustees that they shouldn't judge her because they were all hypocrites themselves...
anyway, your poem is great, and the picture really sums Miss Mildred up - as does the name!
