What Sight Shall Grace The Heavens

What Sight Shall Grace The Heavens

A Poem by Abdul Aziz
"

Inspired by Shelley's "Music When Soft Voices Die"

"

WHAT SIGHT SHALL GRACE THE HEAVENS

A sudden breeze that gathers pace

Shall kiss these strands upon thy face

And every molecule of air

Shall spread thy fragrance everywhere.

In fields of green and lilywhite

Thou, cloaked in breeze and dazzling light,

Did tell me, love, that love is me;

If I am so, then what of thee?

I've loitered through some days of grief,

And night had failed to breathe relief,

But Providence has shown me grace -

Through succour hidden in thy face.

I've grappled with a melody -

'Twas buried in my memory;

It missed a tone and was off-key

But now I see, that tone is thee.

What sight shall grace the heavens, pray,

That love might hold thee as I may?

Soft light shall play when voices die,

Let music tell thee how and why

Abdul, this was beautifully brilliant. This could hold it's own with any of the original romantic poets best work. I mean that. I am putting this in my favorites. Excellent work.

"Did tell me, love, that love is me/If I am so, then what of thee?"- These lines are my favorite that I have read in a while. I feel like they could stand on their own. Then in the lines "It missed a tone and was off-key/but now I see, that tone is thee" I felt the poem slow down in my mind. It is written so well that I know exactly how it should be read. This is just proof of mastery in connecting with the reader. Thank you for a fantastic read

Abdul, you have created a nice imagery and have used some great rhyming and equally good verses. The first stanza is exceptional.

Thank you very much for reading and liking this Rick! Much appreciated
Perfection to its finest! This was an extraordinary poem! I love the romantic feel to it. It's so beautiful, so graceful and so lilting, I was left speechless after reading it. Wonderful work! It's a pity we can't give higher than 100's on a rating. And just like Tom said, this poem will always survive the test of time!

Your poem gently unfolds in its beauty. I am drawn to the cadence and the language in this piece. Your word choices give the poem a classic feel. It is a poem that could have been written 100 years ago or 100 years from now because its emotion is eternal.

Thank you Tom. I'm really happy you liked the poem!
well! it was a hard, complex, elaborate, and aureate piece, but yet after twice reading I can now see the potentila meaning buried within. the love in form of devinity, or an angel in humanity. I am with the first; she is whosever might be, she still needs t know about life and love, it does not matter at all where or when but the unsaid words must be uttered. that is how I understand it, and by the way I liked the shift of the usage of pronouns to the shakespearian poetry. well done great work.

Wow, this poem is well written and utterly perfect. As I read the first stanza, I knew this was going to be one stunning poem. The imagery was brilliant, so clear and picturesque in the reader's mind. I've always had a soft spot for the words 'thy' and 'thee' instead of 'your' and 'you'. It just makes reading it more melodious. I'm grateful to have read such a wonderful poem today :)
