No Hallowed Ground

No Hallowed Ground

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

No hallowed ground, no kingly crown
No gold or silver, no robe or gown
The high and mighty and the lowly born,
Nothing follows when you're lowered down
Into the ashes, into the dust,
When the coffin creaks and the lid is shut.

To help one smile and find some peace,
To set a forlorn soul at ease,
To spend some time as charity,
To love someone with purity -
It's the little things that make one live.
And life is lived when one has loved

Now this is a poem... and so so true... there is an Italian saying that is similar... saw it doing the rounds on Facebook...

timeless reminder that all material things will turn to dust. I find it interesting and characterful how the rhyming is abandoned to focus on the importance of the message. well done :)

Thank you, and well observed :)
when one has people in his or her life to love...that is what is important...we take that love to the grave and the afterlife...not the "things" we have accumulated...

well expressed.
