A Poem by Abigail Ketchem
"

this is a poem i wrote for creative writing class. it is about insecurity, being aware of your flaws, but also being aware of the good things about yourself.

"

4 a.m.

there’s not much

that i am good at.

i am no artist-

my paint is too watery,

the bristles of my brush too dry.

my fingers bleed

at the thought of

plucking a guitar.

my words fall flat:

my pencil is dull and broken,

my paper frayed and yellow.

but i can make you laugh

i can let you squeeze my hand at the doctor’s office.

i can light fires, in the fireplace and

in your soul.

-a.k.
