they became one every Friday after school


in the cafeteria, they share platonic small talk

while holding hands under the table


his smile is his weakness

his parents are his

the first two lines convey an intimacy, the second two suggest layers of friendship/intimacy, the last two lines
bring in the restraints on the relationship - so the poem has a completeness about it.
