Our Two Worlds

Our Two Worlds

A Poem by stargirl23

if you ever texted me,

my phone screen and I would glow

and the best I’ve ever felt yet

was that time when you’d like my retweets

but it’s a period in my history now

and knowing why is all I want"but you won’t talk

all I have to know you by

are the posts on your feed, and when you like tweets

but your voice stays a whisper

until I can refresh it the following school day

I knew your birthday, I planned on wishing you

yet to type is an easier feat than to speak

I thought that after watching all those movies,

talking to you would be easy

a black and white dialogue

similar to an ancient soap opera

but all I want to say to you

has taken the form of ink somewhere

I like the way the poem captures the evanescence of expression/communication, loved the 'black and white dialogue' .

Thanks so much:)
Well done description of how social media has dominated our lives. People do not talk anymore, they text at each other one liners. It does make me wonder whether anyone will ever know anyone except as a text or tweet or facebook posts years down the road...............

The writing is very well done but I'm afraid I can't identify with the subject matter because I don't tweet or any other social media. But the writing itself is very well done! take care...dan

That's OK as I was trying to emphasize the way social media has changed our interactions. Thank you!
The first lines where the best!!
Keep it up!!
