Still Still Still

Still Still Still

A Poem by C. Jack Cully

Tripping out on tryptophan-

the reality really throws me

off my flying saucer of pessimists

down candycane hills into Calypso evenings

laughing youth and dancing music

pulled pork burrito bowls

and scarves and sweaters.

Black wool socks and radiator heat,

Rogers Park Rooftops reaching Westward

whitened by snow

to tingling jazz renditions of Christmas Carols

played by secular judeochristians

rocking Romney hair and wedding rings in Glen Ellyn Jazz Clubs

Day goes quickly into fireside night.

Cachorillo skats stare into moonglow over bushes and trees and hedges whitened against the night's sky like marshmallows in Abuelita hot chocolate

Day Come Day Go

Sun Shine and Moon Glow

and riverrunning ever the same

from the kickoff of life

to the end of the game

everything the same.
