We All Have Demons

We All Have Demons

A Poem by Aekmy

Our demons paralyze us in the midst of the night,

Bring on the worst nightmare filled with fright.

Behold the burning light in our eyes,

Bid it to melt away our sin.

Down the road, up the street. The more people you meet

The more evident your company seems.

We all have our demons, the monsters with sharp fingers

And the mouths with untold stories waiting to be shared.

Crippling fingers claw at melting eyes,

Disconnecting you from the world, yourself, and the threads of time;

You fray miserably at the seams. Lost in the oceans I’ve cried

and long unknown like a disconnected telephone line.

With rosy cheeks and glimmering skin,

They all come running to her day out and day in.

The truth lies underneath the alibi she wears everyday,

Metallic injuries that barely keep the pain at bay.

We all have our demons. They plague our dreams and taint our crisp lips

With forbidden memories

that provoke liquid feelings from our eyes.

There is beauty is uniqueness. Embrace the strange or perish in the ordinary.
