Untitled 8-12-16

A Poem by Siege Powell

The weight of life
it swirls around
to stain our souls
when love can't be found.

We're too close to the sun
& ignoring our hearts
we've forgotten to love
and so our wings melt apart.

A cynical lot
full of mind numbing chatter
when it requires deep thought
like roaches, we scatter.

We need more love
before it's too late
have some empathy please
rescind all this hate.

The earth was created
for us to be free
but the weight of life
steals it from me.

Friends, let us go
let's return to the forest
like our ancient ancestors
who came long before us.

We belong to the Earth
we belong with our Mother
we don't need all this stress
all we need is each other.

many unique stand out phrases in this. Cynical lot really helped the poem along. I loved seeing the word Empathy, we need empathy, it has fell by the wayside. The part about the roaches had me thinking of modern dialog. Great write on a very important topic!
