Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Siege Powell

I need to be asleep.
But I'm wide awake
thinking of all the things
I could've said.
I need to just move on
But I keep hesitating thinking
Wasn't it he I should've wed?
The world keeps going
People are growing
And I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand.
Trying to move on
Trying to be more than a pawn
Yet cemented, here I stand.
Watching your social life bloom
While mine stagnates
And dissolves be for my eyes
I think of all the times I could've been you
If I could've just bit my tongue
And told a few lies.
But I won't shut up
And I won't back down
When I feel something is wrong
I drone on about the cosmos
And my many causes
My friends are tired of my songs.
I should've been asleep hours ago
But I keep hoping to break through
To figure out what's wrong with me
So I can finally move on to something new.
