One Voice

One Voice

A Poem by Amanda
"

I am only one, but with others we can become ONE VOICE...

"

My mind wanders

To a different time and place

Where there are no wars, no strife

Where peace is the norm,

Not the exception…

Is it possible?

Not just a dream

Can it come to pass?

Can’t we all live as one,

In unity and at peace?

The dream is not an unattainable one

If we all join in one voice,

A show of solidarity

To take up the sword of justice and peace

Not to fight, but to stand up for what is right

The road to the world being in tranquility

Will not be an easy one

It is much easier to take up arms

Than to talk and resolve the differences

I am not an activist,

Though I am a pacifist

I want to make a difference

I do have a voice to join

Others who wish for the same

To speak out against the atrocities

To speak out against the wars

To go about change in the ways of peace

To settle petty differences over power,

Greed and the struggle over God’s lands

I am only one,

But with the joining of others,

We can and will make a difference

It will not be easy, this I know...

Amanda, this is such a brilliant piece of writing and as a reader it really touched my heart.
These days, very frequently we hear about Darfur and as an individual we can't initiate anything, but when we all will raise our voice then we can make a difference.
We say that we got to do something otherwise it would be too late, no....too late in NOW!! And we got to do something.
Thanks a lot for the inspiration.

A touching poem, but common ethics shows that world peace may never be achieved. It has been something that many have tried to grab at, such as John Lennon and the sort, but nothing ever changed. There can never be peace without war, the common opposites. And if eternal peace were to be achieved, then there must be eternal war somewhere else...

Good poem!

You mirrored my views on the topic perfectly. You're more of an opptomist than I am, though maybe that's a good thing. It was a beautiful poem and very truthful. You should send it in to places, see if you can get some kind of response.

This poem felt and read like "We are the world". I enjoyed this. I am sorry it took so long for me to get to this piece. I have been missing out trying to get my new computer up and running but this was a really nice piece to start of my evening with. Thanks for the request. I look forward to coming back to re-visting you soon. Stop by and check me out whenyou get a chance.

Well done Amanda. The true power is in the people's voice, if we would just realize it. I think the first step toward peace was stated perfectly by Gandhi... not an exact quote, but....

'BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD'. That's the only way... it has to start within each of us.

Lovely poem. Very hopeful and a pleasure to read my friend.

Absolutely wonderful!

I really loved the lines:
"I am not an activist,
Though I am a pacifist" This really jumped out to me on the screen.

Nice job!
