Encompassing Loneliness

Encompassing Loneliness

A Poem by Amanda

Encompassing Loneliness

Loneliness looms ever closer

Wrapping this existence like a cold blanket

I take solace in the fact that I can still feel

It is better than the numbness of naught

Taking comfort in the bone chilling sensation

Embracing me in its embodying circle,

Welcoming it like a long lost lover

The desolation of the past

Meets the uncertainty of the future

In present time…

A maelstrom of emotions

Surge through me like rain swept leaves

In the wake of a storm,

Falling to the wayside…

Disparity, wretchedness abound

A convivial sensation of release

Scattering them to the winds,

Taking consolation in doing so…

Preference subsistence in a solitary state

Unafraid, dismissing of all else

Without the pain of heart and soul

Encompassing loneliness,

But not without hope,

Ultimately a far better alternative

Than endeavoring to survive

The agony of a broken heart…

The imagery is quite good. Poems made from vented emotions tend to be very random and disorganised. But you've managed to bring about some order, possibly using reality.

Good poem.

What I think is...GREAT!!! Vent away girl, keep writing and eventually you WILL heal. Enough is more than enough. You have put the pain of heartache in such eloquent terms with wonderful use of language. There are plenty more fish in the sea...just drown this one.
Nicely put, sad, but hey...you can't drag them by the hair now can you? That would defeat all purpose and leave you wondering for all time...move on to higher ground.
Helen *wink* A HUNDRED STARS FOR YOU...

Esp like the second verse and the notion in the first that even loneliness is at least a feeling of some sort. It's a strong poem accompanied by a great image. You might make it stronger by tightening a couple of lines here and there, but overall I like the thrust and execution.

It's no good Amanda! I just cannot ever imagine you ever being lonely! Your life, I suspect, is abuzz! Yet! Perhaps in moments you feel this shaft of loneliness. For just a moment. Put it under the microscope and out reels this lovely poem. In a trice two huge arms embrace you and the loneliness is at once dispatched! Ron

I felt this one....

Amanda, I s**t you not when I say that this is a brilliant piece of work! ( Pardon my French )....

Your best....undoubtedly. I like the way you placed the graphic before the final stanza.... So extraordinary!!!

I feel the sadness, yet I'm excited by the read (if that makes sense).... The final stanza is gripping...

Amanda, this is beautiful and the passionate descriptions loom sadness the way tragic beauty weaves a silky
blanket of gentleness and what downtrodden aspirations aspire to become, when rising above the broken
emotions brought by scalded trust, I loved the way you brought the imagery to life, vibrant and depicts with
certainty what brilliance the author chooses to reflect.

The flow of this is truly beautiful...however the sadness in surely something not. I like at the end how you sort of find hope. Very honest piece here. Thanks for another great read!

Oh wow, this was so sad, but the ending does leave room for hope. It is better to be alone with yourself than it is to be alone in a relationship. This is a great write and cowboy is right in what he says. Nicely done!
