Wicked Game

Wicked Game

A Poem by Amanda

Wicked Game

The tangle of the web

Deception abound

To capture the intangible

Woven into the fabric of a false reality

Sins of the flesh

The endgame of this pursuit…

To sate the ravenous hunger

Sought out by any measure

Manipulating the unwary, the naïve

Giving unintentional platitudes to snare

What is the truth?

Is there any such thing…

Deprivation, ruination,

All set into proposition by the temptation

Unknowingly deceived until it is too late

To the demise of all held dear

Betraying heart and soul

To the degradation of everything…

Once the game is set in motion,

All is swept away in the maelstrom,

Dispelling faith and trust

Leaving a trail of destruction is its wake

What a wicked game you play

To attempt and obtain your way…

This is wickedly hot, Amanda. Wow.

To sate the ravenous hunger
Sought out by any measure
Manipulating the unwary, the naive
Giving unintentional platitudes to snare

What is the truth?
Is there any such thing...

What a question! I could dive into that one and remain there all day. And I might indeed. So full of mystery and intrigue as you leave me spellbound. The photo is awesome as well.

Into the favs darling.

Ah! This was so thoughtful, the questions which you asked here were so deep and it was like as if you wanted the readers to do the same, to ask these questions to themselves...
This poem really left me in thoughts and I was moved after reading this...
I won't be wrong if I'll say that this is your best work by far....few of the lines really nailed the entire feel out of me like -
"Woven into the fabric of a false reality" - wow! What a brilliant imagery and so descriptive these lines actually are.....
This is so raw and dark, but again this is what reality is!!!
And thanks a lot for sharing this side with us, I'm sure this darkness will find its exit soon, very soon.....

Very sinister, and you do it like Amanda does!
I was prepared this time! I had my dictionary right here with me as I read your piece!
This was very entertaining and 12th century in affect.

I heard an evil, deep voice read this in my mind....
Vincent Price possibly.....

"To sate the ravenous hunger
Sought out by any measure
Manipulating the unwary, the nave
Giving unintentional platitudes to snare"

Your grasp of vocab is like none other, I thoroughly enjoyed and will be sleeping with the lights on tonight....

ooh.. this is deep.. the chase ensues.. someone playing games to obtain an object of affection maybe? or win some type of prize or material item ... maybe friendship?.. so many what it could be's here!!! People can be devious without a doubt and some will fight relentlessly to win such a game. Myself I detest these games as I like simplicity and hate confrontation to no end.. I have had my run ins whereby others did try to deploy such.. but I never fell for it!!! Thank you for sharing the dark side of humanity!!! ;)
