fading away

...a reluctant farewell to something that was once very important to me...

fading away

deep inside, i felt something
in the recesses of my heart,
the presence that was you
gradually is fading away

once, you were  
in my every waking thought,
the very essence of my existence,
my someone special...

time and distance
made what we had
an unattainable dream
no matter how much
i wanted it, we wanted it...

despite the feelings we had,
the common ground
could not be reached
love doesn't conquer all

with this realization,
i bid a reluctant farewell
to what we once had
and hope that one day
fate will bring us back
to what we once were
together...

This was beautiful, the imagery was so strong here in this piece that I can almost feel that emotion of being faded away..

an unattainable dream" - I LOVED these lines like anything, I mean...the way with which you have come up with these lines is simply beyond my comprehension...it is so beautiful!

"fate will bring us back
to what we once were
together..." - The piece ended perfectly here, leaving behind a trace of hope and the existence of two hearts beating together..

A most telling piece of poetry. It is said that the hardest part of love, is letting go. That may seem difficult and sometimes beyond comprehension, but eventually it is what has to be done. There is a certain feeling of remorse, but also a feeling of satisfaction. Great write.
