Besides the miseries of the world

Besides the numerous stresses

A friend is all we’ve got

No matter what, no matter when

No matter how, no matter who

A friend is all we’ve got

Through day, through night

Through summer, through winter

A friend is all we’ve got

Regarding help, regarding loss

Regarding joy, regarding sorrow

A friend is all we’ve got

Through thick, through thin

Through hard, through easy

A friend is all we’ve got

Whether we talk, whether we chat

Whether we sit, whether we stand

A friend is all we’ve got

Whether it’s love, whether it’s hate

Whether it’s here or whether it’s there

A friend is all we’ve got

Whether we laugh, whether we fight

Whether it is dark, or whether it is bright

A friend is all we’ve got

Whether it’s him, whether it’s her

Whether it’s you or whether it’s me

A friend is all we’ve got

From beginning til' end, no matter how many intercessions we send 

We realize the truth.

This is not only a great write, but it is so true! Through everything and nothing, friends really are all we have, aside from family of course. This reminded me of how much I value my friends and family, how grateful I am for having them every step of the way. This poem is sweet, simple, and yet powerful at the same time. I like it because it doesn't involve too much "scavenging" for meaning, its easily understandable, and although most poetry isn't, its okay, because its something that everyone needs to understand. something that, if understood, could be a potential lifesaver for so many people. I applaud you for sending out this very positive and honest and important message. Well done :)
