My eyes begin to open as my heart begins to shut.

My eyes begin to open as my heart begins to shut.

A Poem by Aiden Aloysius

My eyes begin to open as my heart begins to shut.

Thought I was grounded but sense I'm falling up.

I feel myself bleeding and ask for its reason.

My eyes begin to open and but my heart begins to shut.

She asked me once, if love was enough -

if we could manage, through the wake and the rough.

I told her yes, and it felt right, but -

She opened my eyes as my heart began to shut.

My dreams evaporate so I search for something pleasant,

relinquish destiny and exchange it for the present.

I saw the gap between the girl and the sky,

And drowned in its meaning with tears from her eye.

My palms turn skyward and I wondered how,

I couldn’t grasp then what I realize now.

But then has passed and at this moment,

My eyes are wide open and my heart is half shut.

I know not now what I think I thought, then.

I felt that if we tried, we could have it again.

I can’t even feel what I'm feeling inside,

So I close my eyes while my heart is sewn shut.
